Spirits
Many spirits have lived here,
It’s nooks and corners all too familiar;
Life gives up it’s ghost in despair
Like the carcass of the bird lying,
The pink of its flesh exposed in the sun
When expectations crash against the
Shards of time, optimism folds it’s wings,
Buffeted by the storms, it buries its head
In its wings, waiting for the moment
To take flight.
The soil, the trees and the river
All shake and quiver,
Quickened by the spirit;
At other times to lie flat
To die.
Washed away in Time’s flow
Family dwindles as members go
Only memories shine and glow.
